I liked this book. I think it is a very intelligent examination of the whole “God’s will” issue in light of the objective examination of Scripture. I believe that the personal will of God for an individual (or for cohesive groups such as congregations and their leaders) is a chimera as a strategy for decision making, and should not be. You Can’t Miss God’s Will If If we heed the counsel of scripture, we won’t miss God’s will. God isn’t hiding his will or trying to trick us into making a bad decision. If we evaluate our decision by scripture, ask for wisdom, and then ask the opinion of others, we are doing what God requires of us.
Decision Making & the Will of God by sland (WorldCat user published ) Permalink Many books have been written about finding the will of God, and unfortunately, some of them aren’t worth the paper on which they are printed. Friesen offers a refreshing alternative. The phrase 'the will of God' is used loosely. The consequence of that looseness to our peace of mind is serious. The author's recognition of this problem led him to write this book, a classic that has helped more than a million grieving persons better understand the meaning of the phrase. It can help you as well. The Will of God () by Leslie Weatherhead5/5(6).

Friesen's conclusion is that we should use wisdom to make good decisions within God's commands rather than attempting to find God's "perfect will" for our lives. I agree with the bulk of his arguments, though some of the specifics of his application are a bit off, in my opinion/5. Decision Making is divided into four major sections. Each section makes copious use of charts and diagrams to illustrate the main points of Friesen’s argument. This makes his development of ideas fairly easy to follow. The book is short (as opposed to the OG book “Decision Making and the Will of God” book that weighs in at over 2 pounds) and brilliant.

If God never says anything to me audibly about His will, I would still have more clear instruction in Scripture than I could ever hope to faithfully carry out in one lifetime.

God does guide His people, but the question is, “How does He guide?”/5(9). I recently read the book “Decision Making and the Will of God (25th Anniversary Edition)” by Garry Friesen. Story Behind the Book Most Christians have been taught how to find God’s will, yet many are still unsure whether they’ve found it/5(7).Being in the will of God, they argue, means being obedient to God's revealed will in Scripture, and being wise in one's decision making.
And, as the authors repeatedly affirm, if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who freely gives (see James )/5(96). Conventional Christian wisdom says that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life; the secret to the victorious Christian life, you think, is discovering what God's ideal is for you and following least, that is the message of Garry Friesen's Decision Making and the Will of God.
